Okay... Today was our first dance workshop...
(We were a bit more serious than we were during the drama workshops...)
So, first off, we started out stretching... By ourselves...
Then one of the instructors (I forgot her name) came in and started playing random music and told us to,and I quote "relax, let go, and just dance"...
Apparently, we couldn't 'just dance' because we were standing there just listening to the music and no one was dancing..
And when someone finally did dance, it was like: "'(>_<) "'(>_<) "'(>_<) "'(>_<) "'(>_<)...
So after about fifteen minutes or more (I think) of standing around, and after Pei Wen (the other dance instructor) also kept walking in and out to finally deciding to bring a bunch of new-comers (perhaps now, Fathin and I aren't considered new-comers any more.. Or maybe the other bunch are NEW-comers.. Whatever..) to introduce to us...
The instructors finally decided to teach us some dance steps...
And that's what we did for the rest of the workshop...
So, one moment I was standing there looking like an idiot and the next thing I knew, I was dancing!
Though not very well, I might add, but, it's a start...
Some of the movements looked difficult because the music was pretty fast...
But if you switched off the music and did them slowly, they were actually quite simple...
Anyway, I was standing at the back with Cynthia (we were dancing in the hall of the Student Care Centre so there weren't any mirrors like in a dance room) and Cynthia was like sulking because she absolutely hated dancing...
Then, we (the instructors and a little help from me) finally got her to dance...
We had to use another 15 min or more to teach her the dance steps and when she finally remembered the routine, the other instructor added new steps and she got mixed up all over again!
So in the end, we decided to just let her follow the rest of us (mainly me, according to Cynthia) and let her get the routine into her head slowly...
One piece of good news (for us musical people anyway):
We will be going to the dance room at Yishun Community Centre for the next workshop!
Because, that means:
-Aircon
-Mirrors
-and more Aircon
One piece of bad news (for us musical people anyway):
We have to wake up early to get there by 9.30 am as the instructors were unable to book the dance room for us to use at the normal timing for the Saturday workshops (2.30 pm in the afternoon, depending on the instructors)..
I'll finally be getting my auditions on Saturday..
According to Pei Wen, I just need to prepare a song to sing, like the other drama workshop..
I was allowed to sing the same song as the one I sang the other day, but I wanted to change..
So..
I will be singing the theme song from the movie "Eragon"...
If you have the video, you'll find that there are 2 songs played when the credits roll...
I will be singing the second...
I wish myself luck...
